we’re off to california today!

we won’t be hitting santa barbara this time (that was our january mini-trip!) but we will be seeing san fran, wine country, yosemite, and los angeles.

the perk of getting locked out of my apartment (darnit, a girl can’t remember her keys 100% of the time!) is the excuse to drink a strawberry frap from starbucks with whipped cream while waiting for tim to come rescue me.

olympics & gender equality

In case you haven’t heard yet because you’re one of those New York City tunnel dwellers or you’re exclusively a Winter Olympics person, the U.S. women’s teams at this summer’s games have cleaned up, accounting for 56 percent of all Team USA’s medals, and 66 percent of its golds. Their success is being touted as a big step towards even greater gender equality in sports, and, what’s more, they’ve succeeded in sports traditionally dominated by men, such as boxing, an event the U.S. men, for the first time ever, failed to medal in.

nothing like a little ‘girl power’ to kick-off the week.  although, i still have to see the spice girls’ performance from last night.  i’m expecting nothing short of  a fantastic show.

bridal shower

bridal shower #1 was over the weekend.

my mom’s sisters came into town (and lisa was even able to join us from maryland!) and we did dress alterations, ate brunch, bought wedding shoes (for me), went to the signature lounge at the top of the hancock building… and finally came back to my apartment to open some gifts and eat treats.

they even brought super-cute bride and groom chocolate-covered-apples.

i can get used to this getting-married thing… there are lots of perks involved.

and by perks i mean chocolate, shoes, brunches, and family/friend time galore!

best friend visit!

 

one of my very best friends came to visit over the weekend!

yay  🙂

our time was filled with shopping, catching up, watching the olympics, eating… the usual.

plus, she got to meet the oz man.  they’re best friends now, too.

gal pals make me so happy.

my world is happier because this exists.

they just opened one of these babies in chicago, but sadly it’s not very close to my office.  meaning it’s 2 miles away and there’s no way i can get there during my 3’oclock sugar breaks.

it’s basically a vending machine but with 600 cupcakes (15 different flavors!) daily.

thank you, sprinkles.  you’ve outdone yourself.
